Mentor Series: Sylvia Huang

I encountered Sylvia after INSEAD. Thereafter, she has been an inspiration and a guide. Her strategic insight into the startup world has been instrumental in the forming and nurturing of startups around the world. Her insights in marketing, sales and business development is worth commending. Graduating from the NUS and INSEAD, she is a strategist and akin to helping businesses grow through the ranks. She is a speaker of 6 different languages including German, Mandarin, Japanese and English. She has been working with startups for about 4 years and running. She also doubles as the cofounder of bmightie, and Bizpay. The former is a 'dating'' app for founders anf investors that connects investors, venture capitalist, advisors and experts for mentorship, partnership, hiring, fundraising and cofounding. Her experience with startups and the world of business transcends Australia where she currently resides to the global startup landscape. Her before takeoff newsletter which she releases to the startup world on LinkedIn has become an eye opener to me and to other founders alike. My fondest memory of her is her advice for solo founders and how they can bootstrap their business to success. Specifics include these three: " Build relationships that provide access, trust, learning and targeted support", "Observe where demand and workload repeatedly concrete" and finally " Hire where the role is clear, the cost is supportable and the person can be kept meaningfully productive".
