Tesla, SpaceX, Neuralink, xAI and Boring Company will not be mentioned today but for Musk. Musk's journey to international acclaim began from South Africa. Born to a model mother and an engineer dad. He started working and playing with computers at a very young age. By age 12, he sold his first self made game Blastar for a little below $500. Sometime later, he relocated to the USA to further his academic journey. After studying physics at the University of Pennsylvania, he had to find a job in Silicon Valley, unable to secure such, he proceeded to founding with his brother zip2 which he sold for approximately $20 million for his stake in the company. He then thought of potential viable paths for his new found wealth, his decision, start a new company. This time, he wanted to go into finance and payment system. The company x.com was born. He later decided to partner Peter Theil, and Max Levchin of Confinity. Together, they Cofounded Paypal. He was the CEO until he was actually asked to step down, Peter Thiel took over the position. Peter's famous quote "competition is for losers" in hindsight is buttressed after the sale of Paypal. Musk walked away being the largest shareholder after the sale with about $176 million dollars. That set him on a path to global dominance and acclaim in several fields. He funded Tesla through investment, SpaceX to prove a point, Neuralink after meeting a scientist in whom he saw promise and Boring company to make vehicular transport more direct and efficient. In all this Musk has stayed true to his core values, hard work, first principles thinking, can do spirit and dedication. Currently, he is the richest man in the world worth more than $700 billion.
