Mentor series: Warren Buffett

Warren Buffett's dad happen to be one of those dad's that will look their children in the face and cause them to be great, inducing service in the process. He began selling at a young age to his neighbours before the attainment of age ten. The reason, to become accustomed to money and the world of business. He started his experience with stocks right thereafter and there has not been any turning back for him. Right at the age of 19, then exposed to the world of trading he got hold of Benjamin Graham's book, 'The Intelligent Investor.' In his words, "By far the best book on Investment ever written". Having already been in love with investments he took some of the courses Benjamin Graham taught at Colombia University. He later opted to have his Master of Science in Economics in the same institution. Buffett's interest in investment and the leadership drive he saw in Benjamin Graham resulted in his request for a job with him. He declined until the persistence was no longer bearable. He worked for a while at Graham-Newman Fund until he later moved into private practice starting his own investment firm. The firm later was reorganised and Berkshire Hathaway a then textile firm was transitioned to its current form. It has been rosy ever since with only few hurdles. He married Susan and one of my fondest memories of Warren Buffett with Susan was her constant ask of whether or not they were rich yet! On this, bear in mind he was a millionaire and counting. His responds: we are not rich yet. In 2026, in an interview, he confirmed his later admission of their 'rich' status. Berkshire invests long term in companies. Some of their investments include, BYD, Coca Cola,Geico, JP Morgan among others. His life exemplifies humility, diligence, discipline and hospitality. Fondly called the 'Wizard of Omaha' he is a mentor and a 'waylead'.
