The Country on the Other Side
Several Africans seek to get to the country or should I say the countries on the other side. That side although may not necessarily guarantee a better life, guarantees a probable better future for the African child than their home. The majority journey not for leisure or pleasure: they journey for greener pastures where they are assured their life will turn out fine.
Even before they land on the other side, some of these African 'children' have to endure the con of travel agents: mostly also Africans. Others have to endure the lies of relations. Then there are those that take advantage of the woman who's desperate. All these sometimes still doesn't get them there. Then there are those that go through the Sahara: Surviving the heat, the drought, the tension and the uncertainty. A section die as they seek to get to the other side, others have their boat capsizing. The stowaways endure the clutter, they stand the heat and sometimes the not so pleasant stench. The journey to the other side does not always go as planned but most African 'children' are certain so far as they land at the other side safely, their life will be better comparatively. This is not perculiar to only African 'children' but all those that seek a better life where their country may not be able to provide to their satisfaction. The endgame has always been finding a way to make their life and most especially that of sometimes their families better. But the antidote has always and mostly will remain leadership and choice. The options as presented to them and knowledge of such can and thus determine the next point of call.
